I can go on about Odd Molly forever… and I do! There is so much to say about this Swedish label and so much to love about the clothes. New in this week are some fabulous pieces full of colour, roses, lace, embroidery, frills, ruffles, bows… and the list goes on. All the lovely details which make each Odd Molly creation the pretty, quirky and totally individual artwork that they are.
Perhaps not cheap but very good ‘Molly-value’ for your money. When you look at all the detail that goes in to the making of each Odd Molly garment you will not hesitate and you will certainly not be disappointed.
This week’s favourite is the pink tootsie coat lined with a gorgeous green and purple paisley patterned fabric laced around the hemline. This ‘tootsie’ also has an embroidered rose on the back and beautiful buttons with rose motives. Fabulous to wear with any look being it your favourite slouch jeans or a pretty dress. When it comes to Odd Molly you can mix, match and layer as much as you can. The more Molly the better!
It is hard to resist Molly…

We all need them, they are an absolute essential basic, and yet they’re one of the most difficult things to get right. Yes I’m talking about the simple white shirt. When they’re good they’re very, very good and when they’re bad, they’re horrid. So better make sure that they are the former really!
We have some beautiful white shirts in store at the moment. I have two favorites. The first is a pure cotton, long-sleeved number by Sandwich. It is exquisitely cut with seam detailing on the back and front giving it a fantastically flattering shape. It fastens down the front with a row of small covered buttons and also has three buttons at the cuff. Price £43.00. The second is a gorgeous little piece with short puffed sleeves, ruched detail on the back waistline and a pussy-bow neckline. Again this is in pure white cotton with an irregular self-stripe running through it, £37.00 by Noa Noa.
Great Plains also have two well cut pure cotton shirts in this season – one has a fine white check pattern and button-up adjustable sleeves, price £29.50, and the other is a slightly thicker cotton with white floral embroidery patterning, price £34.50.
Whichever take on this basic you fancy, it’s worth buying it early. This is a piece that will take you from now right until the end of the summer

This is the season to invest in denim! Denim is bigger than ever this spring and not just for jeans but dresses, shirts and jackets and everything in between. Go for any colour and any wash you like from darkest blue to a cool vintage wash or the brightest pink or green. If you fancy a bit of 80′s revival opt for the snow-wash denim… which would not be for me this season but brings back many memories of my 1987 look in black harem-pants (…and I mean full-on harem!), a snow-washed long shirt and a wide black elasticated belt.
Paige Denim is our premium jeans brand and we love it. The soft denim which they use in many of their styles feels like a second skin on the bum! You can still choose any style and get it right. For a flared 70′s style jean choose the Paige Robertsons. For a slimming boot cut there is the Paige Laurel Canyon or if you fancy a straighter leg version choose the Paige Benedict Canyon.
Most of our labels offer jeans in various shapes, styles and colours. Farhi skinny jean in dark blue is my favourite closely followed by Sandwich black slim straight leg jean.
Denim and jeans…. I can go on forever. The choice is yours. Make sure you pick something which you and your body is happy with as there is nothing worse than ill-fitting jeans and these days there is something for everyone and every shape.

Excuse me a moment but – I want it, want it, WANT IT!!! (Cue much foot stamping and pouting until I get my way…) It’s not many things that’ll make me resort to a full blown tantrum until I get what I want, but there are two pieces in store at the moment that easily (and worryingly for my other half) land in that category. These are the gorgeous woven leather handbag, price £247.50, and matching wallet, price £128, both by Farhi. The bag is in soft, slouchy brown leather and has a reassuringly familiar feel under your arm. With one large, cotton-lined inner compartment, it is big enough to fit all your spring / summer essentials including any layers of clothing you need to shed. It also has a small zip compartment for phone and loose bits and bobs. And as for the wallet, well it is about time I had a grown up wallet, I’ve been using the same one since I was twelve… This one has eight card slots, an inner zipped coin compartment and plenty of space for receipts and so on. And it zips closed rather that being held together by a rubber band- I don’t just want it – I need it.

There are two major jacket trends this season; the little cropped jacket or the oversized blazer. Which way are you going to go? We are totally for the little cropped jacket at the moment as we love the way it is more feminine and fabulous for adding shape to your body and your outfit. The cute crop is probably more versatile than the oversized blazer in the way it totally adjusts to what you are wearing. You can ‘crop it’ both for casual and dressy occasions, with jeans or a pretty dress.
We have several cute crops in store and online at the moment. Top of the list is the grey fine pinstripe jacket from Farhi. If you fancy a bit of colour we have a really cute, coral red, belted jacket with bubble hem sleeve from Sandwich or a red and white striped jacket from Jackpot if you are tagging on to this season’s stripy look. For the all time all year jacket check out Sandwich black cropped jacket just new in this week. Finally, if you are a denim-lover we even have a little cute crop as an alternative to the traditional denim-jacket, also from Sandwich. Fabulous in shape and a great jacket to see you through spring to summer and well beyond.
So if you haven’t yet ‘cropped it’… don’t hesitate! It is a must-have key-item of the season and one you can work with for every occasion and every need.

It’s been a long dark winter and I keep getting excited about the first glimpses of spring. The snowdrops have been out for a couple of weeks, the sky is still light-ish at 6pm and the sun keeps making a valiant attempt to put in an appearance – so much so yesterday that my heavy winter coat was far too heavy. And yet it wasn’t warm enough to be out and about without something to snuggle my chin down into.
Back at work this morning I have found several perfect solutions to this between-weathers conundrum, but I have two favorites. The first is European Culture’s black washed cotton summer coat, price £159. The soft light cotton is just enough to give you that extra layer, and it is so beautifully cut that is looks fantastic over anything, from jeans to an evening dress. Another bonus is the fact that it is machine washable. My second choice is takes a slightly different route in that it is a piece of knitwear. Odd Molly’s tenfold knit jacket, price £128. This is available in rose or chalk, which are both perfect for lightning up any outfit with the pure cotton knit giving you that much needed warmth. See – perfect, warm and ready for spring!

We are loving the fact that frills, ruffles and bows are still strong trends for this season. We love those feminine details which will make any dress, shirt or top look so much more…feminine! It is fantastic being able to sport a super-girlie or an all womanly look and still be totally on trend. Forget about boyfriend jeans, boyfriend shirts and boyfriend cardis. Forget about oversized blazers and opt instead for a little cropped number. If the boyfriend look is not for you, don’t worry. There are so many gorgeous frilled and ruffled numbers out there this season. Just take your pick.
Our favourite tops so far are as always the pretty folklore-inspired Odd Molly tops. They could all fall into either category as most of them cover all of the above and more. When it comes to girlie detailing they really know how to work it. If you looking for sexy pretty (yes, it does work together) look at Noa Noa’s frilled net blouse and ruffled net skirt. Both French Connection and Noa Noa have pretty pussycat-bow cotton blouses in this season. Wear them tied at the neck or leave them loose for a less ‘good girl’s look’. Saint Tropez are also catching on to the ruffled look with pretty oversized shirts in blue, light grey or a nudie pink.
So if you like me are feeling refreshed and girlie after a romantic weekend away with husband, then treat yourself to some frills and ruffles today and keep the romance going…
