A new year is upon us and for me and many of my friends it will be 40 years since we entered the world in 1969. Does it worry me? No, not at all! I am the happiest I have ever been since my innocent childhood and I would not want to be any younger even if it was at all possible to make a journey back in time. I would possibly try to alter a few things along the way but then again, the slightly longwinded and at times off-road path my life has taken has after all brought me to where I am today.

This new year about to start, already feels a bit like a breath of fresh air and despite credit crunch-times and depressive economic climate I am determined not to let it get to me. We have been there before and we survived. Like my dad used to say ‘it may not always turn out as planned but it may still be good’, a saying I have continued to use on many occasions.

Get your frock out and a nice (make it a really nice one this year…) bottle of bubbly for New Year’s Eve and make sure you meet 2009 in style and positive spirit with bundles of hopefulness for what this new year is going to bring. Life has more choices than you sometimes think, so make sure you make the right choices.

It has been a season of some fantastic ballroom dresses and some shorter very sexy latin-dresses. I am sure I am not the only woman longingly dreaming about one day having the opportunity to wear a dress like that… let alone one day be dancing with the gorgeous Strictly winner Tom Chambers! Or even better… one day rule the dancefloor in a romantic American smooth with my husband. Will definitely work on that for the new year.

With the final of Strictly being done and dusted with I can now get on with final preparations for Christmas and the all important ‘what-to-wear-dilemma’ for all the festive days. I am thinking a basic LBD for one day with something more vibrant for one of the many dinners and drinks with friends and family.

We still have some great black dresses left from both Avoca, Anglomania and Nougat. Or if you fancy something with a bit more colourful look at Out of Xile, Nougat or Farhi.

I am hopefully wishing for an ‘Anglomanian’ christmas but diamond earrings will do…
